Synopsis:
The Wind-Up Life by Yi-Jen Chen is a motion graphics animation project using matte painting, compositing, illustration skills, 2D animation, and 3D animation. This is about the idea of the intersection between dreams and reality. It depicts the connection between what we dream at night and the stress we feel during the day. Symbolically, the idea of pressure is represented by an ocean and fish to show the idea of mentally drowning. This animated film uses dream-like imagery to metaphorically portray the struggles of a person dealing with everyday life.
Director:

Born and raised in Taiwan, Yi-Jen Chen works in the mediums of graphic design, 2D animation, motion graphics, 3D animation, and digital video. He completed his college education in the Applied Art Department at Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan; and currently a graduate student in the MFA Computer Arts program at School of Visual Arts, concentrating in Motion Graphics.
