VEtool

by Vachan Sharma, University of Southern California, VHS, 26 min.

The late summer of 1990 would leave 19 year old Ehren Tool and 13 year old Vachan Sharma forever changed.  It was the beginning of the Gulf War.  Shattered images, nightmares, lost time and a longing to go home united these two unique individuals more than ten years later.  With two different interpretations of the Gulf War, Ehren Tool and Vachan Sharma collide when their distinct modes of expression reflect sperate personal experiences never completely resolved.  Ehren, now a ceramicist, sends his war themed sculpted mugs around the world to a variety of leaders. Vachan, a Kuwaiti born film student, forces Ehren to confront his demons and in the process is forced to come to terms with his own.
