One of Five

What do an eight year old with Down’s syndrome, an impoverished Appalachian teenager, a young woman who was raised by an alcoholic mother, a middle aged paranoid schizophrenic, and an elderly inner city woman with Alzheimer’s have in common? Each is the subject of “one of five” the short documentary by Ohio based independent filmmaker Justin Choma Zimmerman. Since last September, “one of five” has been shown nationally at film festivals; it recieved Best Non-Fiction Short accolades at the Chicago/IFP Film Festival and the OUStuff film festival. It has also been featured in the Cleveland International Film Festival, the Iowa Documentary Film Festival and Long Beach International Film Festival since its completion in August of 2002.
