This is a documentary about a seven-year-old Chinese girl’s first experiences in Philadelphia and how her family adapts to the new environment. The Lius are a strong, loving, and self-sufficient family. Alice Liu is a cheerful and resilient child who has some tough situations to deal with in her new life in America. Alice Liu’s Adventures in America subtly explores topics such as individual and national identity, and a child’s struggle to understand and comply with the rules of the adult world.
