About
Now in its 18th year, the NextFrame International Student Film and Video Festival was founded with the intention to provide a first-class festival and much-needed exposure for cutting edge student work.
NextFrame finalists are chosen by the end of the year for the following year’s exhibition. A jury of filmmakers, scholars, film/video academics and industry professionals select NextFrame’s Award Winners, who receive product grants and cash prizes from our corporate sponsors. Our sponsors, who graciously provide our winning makers with top notch products and prizes, constitute many of the blue chips of the film industry, including Kodak, Adobe, Final Draft, American Society of Cinematographers, and many others.
Internationally recognized as one of the world’s premiere touring festival for showcasing student work, NextFrame dedicates itself to connecting student filmmakers from all backgrounds, providing these makers with a chance to share their unique vision to audiences around the world. Once each year’s batch of finalists are selected, the festival embarks on a year-long international tour visiting university campuses, museums, media art centers, and independent theaters throughout the US and around the globe.
As an international festival, we pride ourselves in both the quality and diversity of the work that makes up our annual program. While approximately fifty percent of our entries are domestic, we receive work from students across all continents, including many of the world’s developing nations in Eastern Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
NextFrame is run entirely for and by student filmmakers at Temple University’s Film & Media Arts department. For more information about NextFrame, submitting your work to the festival, or any of our policies and practices, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
